MISSION LETTER

June 2007

The Australian Cattle Dog Club of KwaZulu-Natal was approved by the Kennel Union of Southern Africa (“KUSA”) in May 2000 and is an affiliated Non-Championship Specialist Club in KwaZulu-Natal, Northern Coastal and Midland Regions of South Africa. It is a non-profit Club purely in the interest of the Australian Cattle Dog.

The Headquarters and address of the Club is based in KwaZulu-Natal and it is hoped that as the breed grows and succeeds in South Africa, more Australian Cattle Dog Clubs will be formed in the other Provinces of the country. Each Club would have to attain approval from KUSA with it's own Constitution, Committee and members. Until such time, the KZN Club covers the whole of SA and at present has 147 members.

A Development Register was approved by KUSA in 2003, enabling all unregistered dogs to go on to that Register which will, with time, improve the breed and see an increase in the number of registered ACDs in SA, that are true to type with a good working ability.

The Club subs are R80.00 payable annually and are due 1st January of each year. The AGM is held in March/April and we encourage all members to attend. The Constitution has been amended to allow postal voting so all members can participate in any Club decisions or matters arising.

The Club sends out 3 extremely informative Newsletters each year and encourages members to share any knowledge, experience, articles or just to enjoy reading and learning more about our dogs. Adverts, any advise needed, what tests are required before breeding, puppies for sale, help to home your pups to approved homes, available stud dogs, breeders, how to show, how to work, ACD shirts and badges, books available on the breed, in fact all and everything is printed in the Newsletters, even poems!!

Puppy co-ordinating can be obtained either from

and a list of inquiries for or selling pups to suitable homes is always available to members.

The Club website can be visited at www.cattledog.co.za where you will find:
The Origin and History, Breed Standard, Club Constitution, Breeders Code of Ethics, Important Tips Before Buying a Pup, Membership Application and all latest info and photos can be seen. We again, encourage members to submit to the Secretary photos or any interesting reading about the breed and to participate on this site.

Our Club mission is to promote and establish the Australian Cattle Dog in South Africa and to encourage all ACD owners and breeders, to improve their bloodlines and wherever possible, to enlarge their gene pool.

Owners are urged to show their dogs and encourage their innate working ability in the field.
By adhering to our mission, we will produce the ideal ACD, loyal, faithful and a very willing worker.

We look forward to hearing from you and to welcome you as a new member.
